AQUADAT  is a  watertech  born in Bilbao that helps manage water in a sustainable way: economically, socially and environmentally. To do this, it transforms water quality data into useful information for decision making. Until now, he has been MIT  Water Innovation Prize finalist and Galileo  Master regional winner. In addition, she obtained the  Seal of Excellence  H2020  Green Deal  and the innovative SME seal in . The Basque company has just been selected by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to participate in the EIT Community Water Scarcity initiative for its innovative solutions in the water sector. Jorge García del Arco , is the co-founder and CEO of  AQUADAT : GD Empresa: How did the idea of ​​creating a platform that helps companies, administrations and the Third Sector to manage water intelligently come about? Answer: For a year I had the opportunity to help an organization.

A European leader in its segment of the deep-sea fishing sector, to review and improve its positive impact. Its management team considered it the most interesting corporate project of that year. However, of all the identified issues that were acted upon, the only one that we did not have time to implement was evolving from manual data collection to considering the  deep sea vessels as an automatic data collection C Level Contact List platform for the purpose of sharing them. with the scientific community and maintain a high standard of sustainable fishing. For almost a year we evaluated the opportunity map and generated a first prototype that included an aquatic drone and a very visual  representation. The Boston CIC selected  startups from Southern Europe and gave us a scholarship to accelerate for months. As a consequence, we decided to take the step of establishing AQUADAT. After days, the BBK Foundation, through its Venture Philanthropy fund, trusted the project and we had an impact investor.



The first development of the startup and for which you have been selected by the EIT, is  AQUARADAR , a measurement system using  different data sources  that allows monitoring both the availability and quality of water. How can this process help you in the immediate future? A: Being one of the  organizations (between SMEs and  startups ) selected from member states with the potential to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the production processes of the European industry gives us  visibility  at an international level. Additionally, being part of the EIT Community Water Scarcity initiative allows us to access training and  mentoring  by experts in the water and  cleantech sector .
